University Club Luncheon

Our season kicks off with an interesting informative and lively discussion at the next University Club luncheon. Rather than the normal third Thursday of the month it will be on Thursday October 31.

Our popular speaker, Martin Barnes will be familiar to many of you and he is preparing a very interesting talk. Invitation Newsletter to follow.

You will want to reserve this date on Halloween recognizing that it follows another scary day, the day of our federal election.

Tennis Group

Our new VMNC Treasurer Tom Glen just joined us and is a very welcome addition on the courts and in the coffee shop afterward. We are still eager to add more players and pleased to discuss process, costs and playtimes with anyone interested in joining us. Call Des Carpenter at 250-721-1496 or at pdmcarpenter@gmail.com. We are moving inside now as weather uncertain and cost still modest at $11.00 for ninety minutes of fun at doubles tennis. Des Carpenter.

The Social Bridge groups returned to full action this month with all four groups now playing regularly. Our website Homepage outlines how we operate and the nights of play. If you are thinking you would like to play, we would love to have you on our spares list! With the amount of travel our members do, being a spare should provide many opportunities to play and to meet some fellow members of our Club. Please contact Bob Macdonald at jeanandbob@shaw.ca for more information.

Bons Vivants Group

The next Bons Vivants dinner with partners will be Friday November 8. Bons Vivants and enjoy to cook and to prepare great meals with paired wines for friends. There is still time to join our November dinner. So, if you are a Bon Vivant, think that you might be one or would like to be one, please contact Chef Gerry, gerry.delval@gmail.com. Chef Gerry is currently in Greece sampling gyros, moussakas and fresh sea food. He will next visit Tuscany and the French Riviera for a refresher tasting and pairing of their local foods.
