We are most pleased to have as our speaker, TREVOR HANCOCK, retired Professor and Senior Scholar, School of Public Health and Social Policy, University of Victoria

To illustrate the future we hope to leave for our children, he will discuss the ONE PLANET INITIATIVE instituted by Saanich and other governments. The 10 principles they follow make a difference in our lives - from health and happiness and sustainable food to zero carbon energy.

TREVOR HANCOCK
  • Was one of the founders of the global Healthy Cities and Communities movement,
  • Originated the term 'healthy public policy', and has been described as “one of the ten best health futurists in the world”,
  • Was President of the Ontario Public Health Association,
  • Chaired the Board of the Ontario Healthy Communities Association,
  • Is Vice Chair of the Board of BC Healthy Communities,
  • Co-founded both the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment and the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care,
  • Was the first leader of the Green Party for both Canada and Ontario in the 1980's
Trevor is much in demand across Canada and internationally as a speaker. He was made an Honourary Fellow of the UK’s Faculty of Public Health in 2015 and in 2017 he was awarded the Defries Medal, the Canadian Public Health Association’s highest award, presented for outstanding contributions in public health.

Please consider car pooling with other attendees. Ken Brown (VMNC President) has secured a common parking area in far corner of Home Depot parking off Shelbourne. He will have a VMNC sign on his car roof and anyone wishing to car pool can take part by being there no later than 11:15.
