You are invited to join us for VRMNC's Luncheon / Speaker.
SPEAKER: Our February luncheon speaker will be Dr. Edwin Nissen, Professor and Canada Research Chair, School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at U.Vic.
Ed went to Cambridge to study Chemistry, but got hooked on Geology instead. He moved to archrival Oxford for his PhD, before returning to Cambridge for a post doctoral appointment.
After eleven years in Oxbridge, Ed felt the call of North America and moved first to the South-western US (Arizona and Colorado) and then to the Pacific Northwest. He loves living and working in western North America where earthquake science is so relevant and impactful.
(NOTE: The new price for lunch, reflecting increased charges from the Rec Centre, is $42.50 per head.)
SCHEDULE: Thursday February 26:
· 11:30am Sports View Lounge - Oak Bay Rec Centre.
· 12:15pm Buffet Lunch
· 1:00pm Presentation
· 2:15pm End
LOCATION: Lunch will be at the Sports View Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, 1975 Bee Street, near the intersection of Fort St and Foul Bay Road. Doors will open at 11:30.
PARKING: There is substantial free parking at the Rec Centre. Overflow could consider parking in the Save On Foods shopping center or on Goldsmith.
COST: $42.50 per person, maximum 40 seats. Cutoff for buying tickets is February 22, 6:00 pm.
WAITING LIST: If event is sold out, and should you wish to be put on the waiting list in the event of cancellations please contact the coordinator.
TICKETS:
· Only pre-paid, there will be no payment at door.

· Please print and bring your ticket, we will have a check-off list at the door.
