$42.50

PRESENTATION:  on “The Impact of Volunteer Search and Rescue in BC ” by Bill Riggs

SPEAKER:  Our May speaker will be Bill Riggs, CEO, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) .

The event will take place on Thursday, May 28th, at the Oak Bay Rec Centre, doors opening at 11:30 am.

About the talk:
The Impact of Volunteer Search and Rescue in BC
This presentation provides an overview of the essential role volunteer marine search and rescue plays along our coastline and in the Shuswap. With a team of 900 professionally trained volunteers operating 29 rescue stations, we respond to approximately 450 – 500 distress calls each year.
You’ll learn who we are, what we do, and how we do it.. The presentation will also touch on the model that makes this work possible: highly trained volunteers, strong partnerships, and the support of donors and communities.
At its heart, this is a story about people showing up for one another. It demonstrates the impact of volunteerism, the strength of community-based response, and the meaningful difference RCMSAR volunteers make every day in our communities.
