- Luncheons
- Use calendar in VMNC website to advertise luncheons.
- Implement random seating selection all luncheons: e.g. pick a card at every luncheon.
- Broaden the scope of dining out to include breakfast/brunch in selected restaurants in region: e.g. Tonollis Deli, Jam Cafe, Village.
- Consider telephone calls for increasing participation at luncheons.
- Consider other luncheon locations if parking is an issue at a location.
- Seat executive members at each table to facilitate conversations about the VMNC.
- Include wives/partners in some dining out events.
- Speaker Presentations
- Implement a speakers’ bureau which includes VMNC members.
- Involve new members in making speaker introductions and thanking speakers to recognize the new member component of the VMNC.
- Communications
- Use website, newsletter and Facebook as major vehicles for club information.
- Use more e-mail contact before events.
- Continue the Club Contact initiative in which a volunteer VMNC member answers questions and provides information to new members about the Club and the region.
- Request that activity coordinators provide timely responses to new member inquiries.
- Improve website: FAQs, use calendar, use event photos, include suggestions section, executive responsibilities, contact and meet with other websites’ webmasters to identify and incorporate best practices from other sites: e.g.www.victoriawomensnewcomers.com
- Determine which parts of the Club website will be open to the public (as a recruiting tool) and which will be restricted to members only. Review privacy or security issues regarding personal information.
- Activities
- Send information about new member interests to coordinators of specific activities.
- Prepare a club strategy for starting new activities (e.g. poker) or new sections of existing activities: e.g. bridge, book club.
- Determine critical mass required for certain activities: e.g. 14 members for social duplicate bridge?
- Special Events
- Continue to organize events that include partners/spouses.
- Consider initiatives with women’s newcomers clubs: e.g. organize joint events.
- Encourage members to suggest new activities to the Director -Special Events.
- Recruitment and Retention
- Consider organizing two sessions per year entitled “Be a Friend… Bring a Friend.”
- Organizational Leadership
- Consider some form of leadership training for members who may wish to serve on the executive.
