Nearly 50 VMNC members and their partners assembled in two groups on a breezy but beautiful June mid-day on the magnificent grounds of Government House, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
In conjunction with the astronomy visit at the University of Victoria on May 15, 2017, we had lunch at the Lemongrass Restaurant. Since we were a large group we had the private upstairs room. We have all experienced dining at a restaurant in a large group and usually expect to be disappointed with the food and the service.
On May 15 2017, 38 members of the Victoria Region Men’s & Newcomers Club were treated to a tour at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Victoria. The tour consisted of a presentation by our two grad student guides, Steve Mairs and Logan Francis, along with a hands-on viewing of UVic’s larger telescope (there are actually two on campus!).
